Hästens — The Brand

Hästens: a Swedish heritage of over 170 years dedicated to sleep

It is rare for a house to span five generations without ever deviating from its course. Hästens has achieved this. Founded in 1852 in Köping, Sweden, the house was built around a single commitment: to offer the most natural and restorative sleep possible, refusing any compromise on the quality of materials and the rigor of manufacturing.

What distinguishes Hästens in the world of luxury bedding is absolute control over manufacturing processes and techniques, and the selection of materials that compose the beds.

Throughout the various stages of its manufacture, each bed that leaves the Köping workshops has passed through the hands of artisans trained for years in the house’s ancestral techniques, including manual tufting and horsehair work.

At Hästens, nothing is assembled. Everything is constructed.

The Hästens Signature

Handcrafted, material by material: horsehair at the heart of the Hästens bed

The Hästens signature rests on an absolute choice: 100% natural materials, with the exception, of course, of the steel springs. Horsehair for incomparable ventilation, wool for thermal regulation, cotton for softness, linen for structural resistance, solid wood for the supporting frame. No chemicals, no synthetics, no foam. Horsehair is at the center of this philosophy.

A living and elastic material, it creates layers that breathe and progressively adapt to the body, night after night. Far from wearing out, it improves with time, like a precious fiber that reveals its qualities over the long term.

Sleeping in a Hästens bed means experiencing a singular sensory experience: a supported lightness, an ideal temperature, a total absence of pressure points.

Living and elastic material

Horsehair creates layers that breathe and progressively adapt to the body, night after night. Far from wearing out, it improves with time, like a precious fiber that reveals its qualities over the long term.

Incomparable ventilation

The open structure of horsehair permanently promotes air circulation. Result: a constant feeling of freshness, natural thermal regulation, a total absence of pressure points.

Construction without synthetics

No chemicals, no foam, no synthetics. This integrated manufacturing logic recalls that of the great watchmaking houses that manufacture their own movements: at Hästens, nothing is assembled, everything is constructed.

An irreplaceable experience

Sleeping in a Hästens bed means experiencing a sensory experience that synthetic materials cannot reproduce: a supported lightness, just the right warmth, comfort that reveals itself over time.

Durability

A long-term vision: designed to last, not to be replaced

A Hästens bed is designed to last for decades. We are here to advise you on the precautions and maintenance required to ensure this longevity.

In some families, Hästens beds are passed down from one generation to the next, which clearly illustrates their vocation to endure over time, and this is also what makes them exceptional bedding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hästens in Nice:
everything you want to know

Where to find an official Hästens retailer on the French Riviera?

Swede Dreams is the only authorized Hästens point of sale between Monaco, Menton, Cannes, Saint-Tropez. Our showroom is located in Nice. Only official retailers authorized by the brand are qualified to sell Hästens beds and to provide advice on firmness and configuration.

Do I need to make an appointment to visit your Hästens showroom?

The showroom is accessible with or without an appointment. A planned visit allows for more in-depth support: extended trial time, advice on firmness, discussion on base configuration and associated accessories. We recommend allowing at least one hour for a first visit.

Can one choose a Hästens bed without visiting the showroom?

A Hästens bed is constructed in multiple layers of natural materials whose feel depends on the chosen firmness, the base configuration, and each person’s morphology. These parameters are revealed once lying down, during the time of an actual trial. This is precisely why our showroom exists.

What is the difference between a Hästens bed and a Duxiana bed?

Hästens constructs its beds in superimposed layers of 100% natural materials, with horsehair occupying a central place. The construction is entirely manual, without any synthetic material. Duxiana is based on a patented interconnected spring system, combined with natural latex, and offers a different contemporary Scandinavian design aesthetic. Both brands are Swedish, family-owned, and designed for durability of several decades.

What is the delivery time for a Hästens bed ordered in Nice?

Each Hästens bed is manufactured to order in Sweden, which involves a production and shipping time. Allow between six and eight weeks between the validation of your order and home delivery. Installation is provided by our dedicated logistics partner, who operates throughout the French Riviera.

Who founded Hästens and how long has the brand existed?

Hästens was founded in 1852 in Köping, Sweden, by Pehr Adolf Janson, originally as a saddlery workshop. Through contact with horses, and given the natural absorption properties of horsehair, the idea came to use this horsehair in mattress manufacturing. This expertise around the material naturally led the house toward bedding manufacturing, until it became its exclusive activity. Since then, the brand has never left its production site in Köping, and its expertise has been passed down from generation to generation within the same family.
