Founded in 1852 in Köping, Sweden, the house was built around a single commitment: to offer the most natural and restorative sleep possible, refusing any compromise on the quality of materials and the rigor of manufacturing.

Who founded Hästens and how long has the brand existed?
Hästens was founded in 1852 in Köping, Sweden, by Pehr Adolf Janson, originally as a saddlery workshop. Through contact with horses, and given the natural absorption properties of horsehair, the idea came to use this horsehair in mattress manufacturing. This expertise around the material naturally led the house toward bedding manufacturing, until it became its exclusive activity. Since then, the brand has never left its production site in Köping, and its expertise has been passed down from generation to generation within the same family.
