Duxiana Furniture, Exclusively on the French Riviera

There are interiors where every piece seems to have been chosen with the same care, the same silent coherence. Objects that inhabit the space with natural obviousness. It is this art of precision, applied to furniture, that Duxiana has cultivated for a century.

Swede Dreams, official Duxiana dealer from Menton to Saint-Tropez, displays several pieces from the contemporary Scandinavian furniture collection in its Nice showroom, alongside the brand’s beds.

Two disciplines, one vision: that of demanding Swedish craftsmanship focused on durability, materials, and design. Whether you reside in Monaco or Saint-Tropez, Nice, Cannes, Menton, this space is the only place on the French Riviera where you can experience Duxiana furniture in real-life conditions.

The Spirit of an Era

A Swedish Heritage Embracing Bedding and Furniture

Duxiana was founded in 1926 in Malmö by Efraim Ljung. The brand’s history extends beyond bedding. As early as the 1950s, his son Eric Ljung formed a friendship with Bruno Mathsson, a designer born in 1907 in Värnamo and now considered one of the central figures of 20th-century design. This encounter led to an intense creative partnership in the 1960s and 1970s, giving rise to some of the most cohesive pieces in all of Scandinavian design.

What makes this lineage particular is that it is intellectual, almost philosophical. Mathsson was a pioneer of ergonomics, convinced that form should emerge from the human body before responding to any aesthetic logic. He based the contours of his chairs on the imprint his own body left in the snow. His conviction is encapsulated in a constantly transmitted formula:

“Furniture should be crafted with skill so that one can sit in it effortlessly.”

Today, in its fourth generation of leadership, Duxiana perpetuates this legacy with remarkable fidelity: the same pieces, the same materials, the same philosophy. It is this family continuum that we exclusively distribute on the French Riviera.

The Duxiana Furniture Collection: Pieces Designed to Last for Centuries

For a century, Duxiana has crafted creations that transcend time, with absolute certainty: true excellence is an experience.

The brand’s furniture collection was born from an intellectual friendship, a correspondence of convictions between Eric Ljung and Bruno Mathsson, one of the most demanding designers of the twentieth century.

This encounter resulted in pieces that stand the test of time with the same obviousness as on day one.

Armchairs

There are objects one chooses. There are objects that impose themselves. The Jetson belongs to the latter category.

Bruno Mathsson dedicated three years to this piece, first presented in 1969 at Nordiska Galleriet in Stockholm. Three years studying the mechanics of rest, observing how the human body seeks its balance when it surrenders, translating these invisible angles into a structure of absolute precision. The result is a bowl-shaped seat, a high backrest extended by an integrated headrest, a chrome swivel base whose automatic return mechanism remains unparalleled even today. The Jetson belongs in its own category. His research was functional, absolute. He sought to be right. He is.

The Spider armchair follows a different logic altogether. Its airy structure, suspended cushions, and sculptural silhouette make it one of the most immediately recognizable pieces of Scandinavian design. But the Spider’s uniqueness is not just in its appearance. Each cushion incorporates the DUX springs developed by the company since 1926 for its bedding, transposed here with the same exacting standards. The support is precise, flexible, and stable over time. One notices the Spider for its form. One returns to it for the feeling it evokes once seated.

The Pernilla 69 armchair is of a different nature, yet of equal nobility. Designed in 1944 and named in homage to journalist Pernilla Tunberger, it rests on a steam-bent natural beech frame, a linen support canvas, and generously proportioned aniline full-grain leather cushions without ostentation. Its low, inviting silhouette, available with or without a matching footrest, embodies that particular form of elegance that only time can produce: one that has proven itself.

The Karin armchair, born in 1969 from Eric Ljung’s first direct commission to Mathsson, bears the imprint of the designer’s American travels, his encounters with Charles and Ray Eames, with Marcel Breuer, while retaining all the Nordic rigor that was his signature. Its chrome steel structure, its precisely tensioned cabinetmaker-quality support straps, and its button-tufted cushions in black or brown aniline leather make it a piece of rare formal density.

One chooses the Karin because, once seated, everything else falls into place.

Tables

The tables in the Duxiana collection are accomplished gestures.

The Karin table, directly derived from Bruno Mathsson’s original design, comes in two formats that share the same soul: a chrome steel structure mounted on casters for sovereign placement, and tabletops made of materials that permit no mediocrity. Arabescato, Nero Marquina, Verde, or Elegant Gris marble according to preference, walnut for those seeking the warmth of wood in its highest expression.

Designed to coexist with the armchair of the same name, it forms an ensemble whose coherence stems from an obvious fact: both pieces share the same origin, the same hand, the same conviction.

The Drum table, designed in 1979 by Yngve Sandström and reissued by Duxiana, embodies a rare precision in its economy of means: a chrome steel structure, a tempered glass top, nothing more. It is this restraint that gives it strength. As a side table, bedside table, or a compositional element in a living room, it finds its place everywhere without seeking to dominate. Its presence is a discreet punctuation, that of an object that knows exactly what it has to offer.

The Alberto table, a square piece with a strong character, has a different intention. It asserts itself. Its presence in a living space is that of an object fully itself, offering those around it the silent satisfaction of perfectly resolved things.

Chairs

Behind every great house, there are pieces whose discretion is the most accomplished form of luxury. The Sam chair is one of them.

Created in 1974 by Swedish designer Sam Larsson, it presents itself with the sobriety of those who have everything to offer. Its structure, available in chrome or a black finish depending on the desired atmosphere, can be chosen with or without armrests.

Its upholstery is selected according to the same absolute criteria as for the entire collection: quality of materials, durability, resistance to daily use, preserved beauty.

Around a table, facing a Jetson or a Karin, the Sam chair completes the ensemble with that particular grace of objects that know their role and fully embrace it.

A Single Conviction

What unites these three families of pieces is an ethic.

At Duxiana, materials are chosen for their ability to withstand the test of time. Aniline full-grain leather develops a patina and gains character. Bent beech retains its fluidity after decades of use.

Chrome steel retains its luster. This is the direct consequence of a repeated choice, generation after generation: substance over appearance.
